UBUD HOTELS | PONDOK NAYA

Where To Stay in Ubud?

My favourite continent to travel to...Asia! I've never been to Indonesia before and so excited to try the food, experience the culture and see the beauty of it. Driving to our hotel reminds me of why I love Asia so much; the organised chaos of the roads, the street vendors selling food, the stunning architecture, the tropical surroundings, the sticky heat.

We'd quickly booked a hotel the morning of arriving in Ubud; it was essentially a random choice of the cheapest, closest place to the Monkey Forest, as we'd heard this was a good area. We found this place called Pondok Naya and once we arrived, I felt anxious as we had our luggage placed on the back of a moped and it was driven to our villa, since you couldn't drag it easily through the dirt roads. Although, once we began the walk to our room, we were surrounded by an abyss of stunning rice paddies and walls of palm trees.

I am obsessed with rice terraces and our villa was right in the middle of one. We arrived at sunset and were presented our two rooms. It was stunning. We had two suites. The ground floor suite featured an outdoor kitchen and gorgeous bathroom whilst the upstairs suite had a balcony and panoramic views of the unbelievable landscapes. You could see Mt. Kintamani and I woke up early one day to watch the sunrise. Oh, and did I mention we had our own private pool. I was in awe.

The staff welcomed us with fresh coconuts and even a mobile phone, in case we needed anything. This was hands down the nicest place I'd ever stayed at and for £35 per night per suite! It was luxury for such a bargain price. I would highly recommend staying here if you're in Ubud for a few days, it's close to the main centre of town as well as the Monkey Forest and you feel like you've been transported to another world.
